Hi there!

I'm Katelyn Barbour...

I am the creator of Seedlings for Wellness. I’m in my 20’s, living in Philadelphia, PA trying to navigate through life the best I can. I’m a cat lover and a houseplant fanatic. I try to be both active and healthy, but on the weekends you may find me at a local bagel shop or getting an ice-cream sundae somewhere! We all deserve a little indulgence, right? 😉

I got my 200-hr Yoga Teacher Certification in 2020 (though I had been practicing yoga since I was 11) and it really changed my life! The philosophies I’ve learned within the 8-limbed path of Yoga have taught me SO much about what it means to live in true peace with myself and others. I’ve changed so much of my lifestyle, both physically and mentally, after embarking on that yoga journey!

I then became a certified personal trainer in 2022 and started working with clients throughout the city any where from 24 to 73 years old. I love being able to light the fire within people that motivates them to take charge of their health. I help people lose weight, gain muscle, improve their mobility and cardiovascular health, but more importantly I help people change their relationship with fitness, wellness, and with their own bodies along the way. My goal is to help people cultivate a positive relationship with the “process” as they work towards their goals.

How I want to help you...

I created “Seedlings for Wellness” because I was tired of seeing this unrealistic idea of  “Perfect” amongst all the pages and people I followed for my own inspiration.

Prior to my yoga journey and my fitness certifications, I had developed a very unhealthy ideal for myself, and had constant angry and discouraged feelings when I wasn’t reaching these unrealistic goals. I would strive to be like the fitness influencers out there who are made of pure muscle and eating what seemed to be only a fruit bowl, some almonds, and a chicken salad everyday! No judgement to those of you out there who do this and it works for you; more power to you! But this wasn’t an attainable lifestyle for me and my constant obsession over it made me worse off in the end. I wasn’t taking care of my body properly, and my mental health deteriorated too.

Later down the line, during my yoga certification, I started to learn how to find contentment with myself and quite honestly how to just “stay in my own lane.”

I stopped comparing myself to others as much, knowing that I’m working on MYself and MY goals. I started having some grace; not freaking out when I would have an Italian dinner out with all the pasta or go get ice cream because the craving was just so loud. As long as I was constantly chipping away at my goals, and finding some balance along the way, that was what mattered!

“Seedlings for Wellness” is exactly what it sounds like. If you don’t know where to start or don’t know how to stick to it, consider yourself in the right place. I’ve planted the “seeds” for you. And I want to help you nurture the seedling that is your happiest and healthiest version of yourself.

Through consistency and discipline, paired with a little tenderness and ease, you can allow yourself grow into the best you, both physically and mentally. The goal is lifestyle change. And with lifestyle change, comes learning where ice cream sundaes and pasta dinners fit in.

You should learn how to appreciate the baby steps that you take everyday towards your goals and more importantly, live your life with a little ease and forgiveness. I’m here to help you shape that journey and find what nurtures you most towards true health and wellness.
